Storm Emeralda
The sixth MEGA Expansion Pack in the Japanese Mega Evolution block, and the set built around Mega Rayquaza ex. If you are collecting the Mega line in Japanese, this is the one with the dragon on the front.
What’s in a pack
Five cards. Japanese packs run smaller than English ones, and they are not all the same size either — this is five, against seven in a Black Bolt or White Flare pack and ten in an English one. Judge a Japanese price per card, not per pack, or the comparison will mislead you.
The chase
Mega Rayquaza ex is the showcase card, and its Storm Emeralda attack — the one the set is named for — deals 50 damage for each Fire and Lightning Energy attached across all your Pokémon. Mega Golurk ex backs it up with the Power Limiter ability and a 300-damage attack, alongside Mega Malamar ex, Raikou ex, Heat Rotom ex, Wishiwashi ex and Talonflame ex.
Worth knowing
The set leans hard on legendary Pokémon and introduces multiple dual-part Stadium cards with “Legendary” in their names. There is also a Mega Rayquaza Cap Pokémon Tool that opens up its own deck line.
